Samsung conectó cuatro teléfonos inteligentes Galaxy S24 Ultra a globos estratosféricos para tomar fotografías de la Tierra directamente desde el espacio durante seis días. La acción fue parte de la campaña de marketing de la compañía para dar a conocer el potencial de su nuevo celular de alta gama, que destaca por la inmensa calidad de la cámara y su zoom óptico, que mantiene la máxima calidad hasta cinco veces la distancia estándar.

Samsung programó los dispositivos para capturar fotografías usando diferentes configuraciones del Galaxy S24 Ultra, como hacer zoom hasta 5 veces sin pérdida de calidad, lentes gran angular para paisajes y diferentes distancias focales.
El teléfono inteligente, cabe mencionar, no llegó a lo que se llama el espacio exterior. Sin embargo, el alcance de la estratosfera ya permite la sensación de tener el planeta fotografiado desde arriba, como en la imagen inferior.

Samsung afirmó que los dispositivos se recuperaron sin ningún problema. Para aterrizar, el hidrógeno de los globos se liberaba de forma remota y se desplegaban los paracaídas, permitiendo un descenso suave y controlado hasta el suelo.
