Empecemos por el lado optimista de la investigación: la mayoría de los entrevistados dicen creer que la ola de IA permitirá avances notables en áreas como la ciencia, la literatura, las matemáticas, la música y la arquitectura, en un período de tiempo más corto que antes. El caso se predijo hace años, antes de que la inteligencia artificial se hiciera realidad.
Lamentablemente, no todo son motivos para celebrar. Entre el 38% y el 51% de los entrevistados afirmaron que existe un 10% de probabilidad de que las IA provoquen la extinción de la humanidad. El 60% coincidió en que las posibilidades de que ocurra este trágico escenario son de al menos 1 entre 20.
¿Podrá la inteligencia artificial actuar sin interferencia humana?
Es posible. Los encuestados dijeron que hay al menos un 50% de posibilidades de que las IA realicen nuestras tareas sin que necesitemos brindarles asistencia;
Y no se detiene ahí. Podrían hacerlo mejor y más barato.
Inicialmente, la fecha prevista para que esto se hiciera realidad era 2060. Hoy en día ya se habla de 2047.
Se espera que otras acciones muy interesantes se hagan realidad a finales de la década de 2020. Por ejemplo, la posibilidad de generar un vídeo desde ángulos alternativos, escribir una novela superventas o incluso doblar la ropa.
Generar música basada en el sonido de artistas reales, como Taylor Swift, The Weeknd o Ed Sheeran, sin que se distinga del artista real, también será posible dentro de unos años, estima la investigación. Sin embargo, en el estudio no se discutió la ética de una práctica como ésta.
En general, el 70% de los expertos dijo que a medida que la inteligencia artificial avance y se vuelva más poderosa, los resultados probables que obtendremos serán buenos, no malos.
