Este viernes (14), los astronautas de la misión Crew-4 finalmente pudieron regresar a la Tierra después de pasar unos 170 días en la Estación Espacial Internacional (ISS). El reingreso estaba programado para el jueves pasado (13), pero fue pospuesto debido al mal tiempo.

La tripulación compuesta por los astronautas Jessica Watkins, Robert Hines, Kjell Lindgren (NASA) y Samantha Cristoforetti (ESA) abandonó el laboratorio orbital alrededor de las 12:30 horas después de que las escotillas se cerraran unas horas antes.

La cápsula Freedom realizó una inmersión segura con los astronautas frente a las costas de Florida, luego de una evaluación de las condiciones climáticas y de las olas en el lugar, para garantizar que todo el proceso transcurriera sin mayores problemas.

Como su nombre indica, Crew-4 es la cuarta misión tripulada a la ISS que la NASA ha contratado con SpaceX. La cápsula Freedom se lanzó sobre un cohete Falcon 9 el 27 de abril de este año y llegó al laboratorio orbital el mismo día. El regreso de la tripulación no significa que la ISS estará sola, ya que Crew-5 se lanzó la semana pasada con cuatro nuevos miembros de la tripulación.
